Your Opportunity
The Supply Chain team is looking for motivated professionals to facilitate the distribution of our great products to customers and consumers. These personnel can analyze production metrics against market needs in Supply & Demand Planning, focus on product transportation through Logistics, or ensure the shelves of your local grocery store are stocked by Direct Store Delivery.
The Associate Supply Planner is responsible for the finished goods replenishment planning of typically external purchased/co-packed finished goods. May be assigned internally produced finished goods with limited network complexities. Manages the inventory levels & production planning cycles - determining what to order, how much to order & when to order finished goods to support inventory & service level targets. The role also balances available stock within the distribution network for operational efficiencies with base & pre-build business situations.
Core Responsibilities
- From the Consensus Demand Plan, the role decides finished goods needed to support customer orders, forecasted demand & inventory stocking requirements.
- Establishes reorder quantities for finished goods, while considering supply lead time, warehouse and transportation constraints.
- Actively interacts with demand management, manufacturing, quality, warehousing & transportation to solve finished goods issues & consumption patterns.
- Measures, analyzes, and reports key process metrics, while monitoring adherence to key performance indicators (KPI) that are assigned to the assigned product categories.
- Identifies possible material shortages against inventory plans and develops action items. Marshal resources to address action items and follow up on all material shortage-related issues.
- Responsible for long-term capacity status, weekly category KPI updates, product shortage reporting & ad-hoc daily information flow amongst supply. planning partners (Demand Planning, Customer Service, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Logistics, Business Management).
- Accountable for Key metrics to include:
- Case Fill Rate %
- Distress to Sales Ratio
- Working Capital/Days On Hand Inventory (DOH)
- Stock Transfer Order Utilization - Weights/Cube
- Pre-build Monitoring - Production & Storage

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Company will consider a currently enrolled college student with an anticipated graduation by end of current school year as qualified.
- APICS CPIM or CSCP certification, a plus.
- Work experience in a team based environment within manufacturing or supply chain, desirable.
- Experience with SAP and its related supply chain applications, preferred.
- Experience with Advance Planning Systems (Logility/JDA/APO/etc.) is desirable.
- Proficiency using PC-base Technology (Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word and Access).
- Strong technical skills around data management.
- Understanding of technology tools that enable inventory planning, reporting, analysis & simulations.
- Well organized, with strong attention to details. - Strong mathematical/statistical abilities.
- Proven ability to build working business relationships. - Interpersonal skills to handle internal negotiations amongst departments in meeting service level goals.
- Display a willingness to make timely decisions.
- Able to provide data to support & explain reasoning for decisions.
- Meets deadlines and works under pressure with limited supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment. - 5% - 10% travel is required.
Salary Range The expected pay range for this position is $52,500 - $77,500 annually. Smithfield Foods provides pay ranges that reflect its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the company reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of hire. Individual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, location of the position, the candidate's qualifications and experience, internal equity, external market pay for comparable positions and budget considerations.
